Josef Schovers werd geboren op 2 november 1845 in een huis ("Beltrumstraat 221") op het hoekje van de Beltrumsestraat en de Koksteeg, ongeveer waar nu de grote plataan in de tuin van het huis van Steenbergen staat.
Zijn vader, Josephus Albertus Schovers (2-1-1809/22-5-1880), was timmerman en trouwde op 10 september 1838 met Aleijda Kok (12-3-1809/10-11-1888). Aleida Kok werkte tot kort voor haar huwelijk als dienstmeid in Zutphen.
Waarschijnlijk werd Josef geboren in het ouderlijk huis van zijn moeder, dus bij de familie Kok.Het huisje hier op de foto is waarschijnlijk de plek waar zijn ouders vanaf 1845 woonden tot hun dood woonden. Ik denk dat Josef hier ook zijn hele leven gewoond heeft, zowel als kind als na zijn huwelijk met Grada Nijhuis. Hij is 33 jaar en borstelmaker van beroep als hij op 4 juli 1879 trouwt met Grada, die dan 39 jaar is.
De adressen van dit huisje van de familie Schovers zijn:

1888: No. A357 Molenweg.

Het huisje bestaat niet meer, maar lag waarschijnlijk aan de grachtzijde van de Ziekenhuisstraat. Voor mensen die de kadasterkaart van 1832 hebben: de buren zijn in ieder geval de familie Nales (kad. nr. 341) en Kuiper (kad. nr. 339). Het huisje van Schovers staat nog niet op de kaart van 1832.
Josef overlijdt op 3 april 1914, zijn vrouw Grada op 31 januari 1916.
