Notes about Hendricus Janvier

Hendrik Janvier is de grondlegger van de carrouseldynastie. Hij deed dat met een enorm gevoel voor kunst, sfeer, gastvrijheid en zakelijkheid. Zoals gezegd bouwde hij de stoomcarrousel met eigen handen op en voltooide hij deze in 1903. Om de attractie te onderhouden, te verplaatsen en te bedienen, waren natuurlijk veel mensen nodig.
Hij had dan ook meer dan twintig mensen in dienst.

Gaandeweg nam Hendriks zoon, Laurentius het stokje over. In 1919 kwam er een attractie bij: Het Luna Park.
Meestal stonden deze twee attracties, gebroederlijk naast elkaar. Aan het begin van de jaren dertig, kwam er een alcoholverbod voor de stoomcarrousels, waardoor er langzamerhand de klad in kwam.

Inmiddels had Laurens een dochter gekregen, genaamd Lena. Zij trouwde met George Lodewijk Reemer(Later veranderd in Reemer-Janvier) Toen in 1950 het doek viel voor de carrousel, werd het na lang beraad verkocht aan de Efteling. Het Luna-Park ging over naar dochter Lena en toert nog steeds, alhoewel gemoderniseerd, over diverse kermissen.

Als je nu op de kermis het Luna-Park tegenkomt, dan weet je dat hij verwant is met het Carrousel-paleis op de Efteling.
