      Hij begint als stoffenverver en wordt later ambtenaar (Chef de Service Adjoint) bij de de S.A. Compagnie Electrique Anversoise, later de elektriciteitsmaatschappij der Schelde te Antwerpen en nog later gekend als EBES.

      Als jong kind verbleef Adolf Van Neste dikwijls te Tournai bij zijn tante Joanna Catharina Philomena Van Neste en bij zijn grootmoeder Joanna Josepha Syx. Hij liep aldaar een tijd school bij de Jezuiëten en leerde er volmaakt Frans. Adolf studeert later aan de Koninklijke Academie te Antwerpen.
      Adolf Van Neste schildert vooral bloemenstillevens, maar ook interieurs en landschappen in aquarel en olieverf. Zijn bloemenboeketten zijn steeds vergezeld van stille getuigen zoals een vaas, een kop met schotel, chinees porselein of een beeld. Kortom, sfeervolle rustgevende composities.
      In opdracht van de Koninklijke Maatschappij voor Dierkunde wordt hij ook aangezocht enkele fresco's te schilderen in de dierentuin te Antwerpen.
      Men verzoekt hem tevens het enorme plafondfresco van het voormalige jeugdtheater van Antwerpen te schilderen.
      De molen van Westmalle, een olieverf op doek, bevindt zich thans in het bezit van het gemeentebestuur te Westmalle en siert aldaar het kabinet van de burgemeester.
      Vele van zijn werken werden geëxporteerd naar Frankrijk, Italië en naar de Verenigde Staten van Amerika.
      Adolf Van Neste stond ook bekend als ontwerper van talrijke gobelins en tapijten, die hij ontwierp voor de firma Van Pee uit Sint Niklaas. Deze werden geëxporteerd en bewonderd over gans de wereld.
      Hij vervaardigde ook vele glasramen en maakte publiciteitstekeningen en versieringen voor boeken en affiches van velerlei Belgische verenigingen.

Op de foto staat grootvader met het decor van “Chevalier Kodosch” 30 ste graad die hij verkreeg op 17/4/1948 in het Aeropagus « La Persevérance ».

    Met 100% zekerheid weet ik dat hij in Ukkel werd verast. Het was toenertijd onmogelijk as te verstrooien in onze conterijen. Lemoyeux, zijn boezemvriend, die nog de dam in Eupen gebouwd heeft, bracht met Pa en mij de asse naar Velsen. Onderweg moesten wij betalen voor het vervoeren van het stoffelijk overschot door alle parochies. In Velsen is hij naar zijn eigen wens, nadat de as werd fijngemalen uitgestrooid op een veld waar er toen al velen lagen. Ik was toen 20 jaar en dus moet het in het jaar 1959 geweest zijn... Hij is gestorven van Levercirrose, dus waarschijnlijk niet van bronwater te drinken.
