Van het Provinciaat der Minderbroeders gevestigd Deken Roesstraat 13 Utrecht ontving ik (Paul Potten ) nu alweer dertig jaar geleden op 19 okt. 1976 van Br. H. Hijlkema o.f.m. ass. secr. de hieronder genoemde aantekeningen.
Pater Terentius (Peter Antonius Hubertus Potten) werd gekleed 1 okt 1898 te Wijchen, waar hij ook op 4 okt 1899 zijn eenvoudige geloften aflegde. Zijn plechtige geloften legde hij af 5 okt 1902 te Weert, waar hij op 2 apr. 1905 priester werd gewijd.
Tot 1918 was pater Terentius Potten kapelaan te Gouda.
1918-1929 kapelaan te Delft H.J.
1929-1931 in Den Haag H.H.A. en L en tenslotte tot 1934 te Franeker, waarvan hij tot 1940 assistent was te Vorden H.H. en tot aan zijn dood te Nieuwe Niedorp.
In het boek over het provinciaal der Minderbroeders staat o.a. vermeld:
De 10e okt 1951 overleed vrij onverwacht onze medebroeder Terentius Potten in de ouderdom van 72 jaar. In Venray geboren als zoon uit een eenvoudig gezin, is hij in alle eenvoud door het leven gegaan. In de twee jaren, die hij in het klooster te Nieuwe Niedorp doorbracht, deed hij zich kennen als een man met grote gelijkmoedigheid van ziel en met een buiten gewoon hartelijk karakter. In moeilijkheden stond hij gaarne iedereen terzijde, waarbij zijn handigheid en nuchter oordeel voor vele van groot nut waren.
Of schoon toch al op jaren heeft hij nog veel en ijverig gewerkt voor het heil der zielen. Nooit zocht hij zich zelfs, maar tot het laatste toe ging hij uit om te helpen.
"Non sibi soli vivere, sed aliis proficere" dat was zijn leus van zijn leven. Door zijn getrouwheid ook in het kleine, was hij voor zijn mede broeders een levend voorbeeld. Geheel onvoorbereid is hij gestorven. Al langere tijd was hij bewust dat hij niet lang meer te leven had. Na een paar dagen ziekenbed riep God hem tot Zich, om zijn trouw dienaar te belonen met de kroon der eeuwigheid.
