Notes about Klaas Lenten

Klaas tekende in 1938 voor 10 jaar als beroepsmilitair en werd bij de marine in Den Helder opgeleid tot torpedomaker. Vanaf het uitbreken van de oorlog in 1940 tot 1941 werkzaam bij staalfabriek Demka (Utrecht), toen naar de NS in
Eindhoven. Werd leerlingmachinist op stoomlocomotieven. Moest in 1945 zijn contract bij de marine uitdienen tot 1948 (Vlissingen, Ijmuiden). Reed op het strand op een landmijn, 3 maanden ziekenhuis; zijn rechterbeen kwam niet meer goed.
Vanaf 1948 weer bij de spoorwegen. Zocht de oorsprong van de Lentens uit in Drente en organiseerde de Lenten-reünie in 1978.
