Een bijzondere getuigenis van broer Henk
Jan werkte met zijn broer Hendrik Christiaan ( 20-07-1906, roepnaam Henk) in dezelfde ploeg aan de Birma-lijn. Na het overlijden van Jan heeft zijn broer het stoffelijk overschot tot tweemaal toe in een zak op zijn rug meegevoerd naar zijn nieuwe standplaats. Henk wilde dat zijn broer na de oorlog een waardig graf zou krijgen.

Hierdoor is het mogelijk geworden dat Jan nu een rustplaats heeft gevonden op de Chungkai War Cemetery in Thailand.

Op 26 nov. 1952 vertrekt het echtpaar uit Tandjong Priok met "ss Oranje" en komt aan in Amsterdam op 17 dec.1952.
