    De heer Jacob Oving.
    Men schrijft ons uit Hamburg Heden 22 April jubileerde alhier eén ouddé heer Jacob Oving, een bekende firma voor import en export.
    Hoewel het niet in de bedoeling van den jubilaris lag daarvan veel ophef te maken, meenden de Hamburger vrienden toch, dat deze dag
    niet onopgemerkt voorbij mocht gaan. Want niet alleen, dat de heer Oving in die kwarteeuw de zaak tot een belangrijke hoogte
    heeft opgewerkt, hij heeft door zijn deelneming aan 't openbaar leven der Nederlanders in Hamburg èn als sportconsul èn vooral als
    jarenlang bestuurder in verschillende functies van het Koningin Wilhelmina-fonds tot steun van hulpbehoevenden dit fonds ten
    zeerste aan zich verplicht. Niet alleen de snortsman was menschenredder, wat te zijner tij derkend is door de uitreiking van een
    eeremedaille, zoowél door de Nederlandsche als Hamburger Reddingsinstituten, maar ook de bestuurder van K. w. F. De leden van dit
    fonds boden den jubilaris bij deze gelegenheid een prachtig zilveren theeblad aan met inscriptie, bij monde van onzen consul-generaal.
    Het kantoor was in een bloemenserre herschapen. Mevrouw Oving en de dochter namen de honneurs waar. Wat den jubilaris
    bij dit alles voral goed gedaan zal hebben was zeker de aanwezigheid van zijn bejaarden moeder, mevrouw Oving-Post, terwijl
    mede zijn broeder en de h.h. Gruno en De Grave uit Groningen waren overgekomen om hem geluk te wenschen
