Notes about Karel Christiaan van Nassau Weilburg

In 1753 volgde hij zijn vader op als Vorst van Nassau Weilburg.

In 1783 sloot hij de "Erbverein" met Nassau-Saarbrücken, Nassau-Usingenen, Nassau-Dietz (Oranje-Nassau) die de eenheid en onvervreemdbaarheid van Nassau en het eerstgeboorterecht erkende en bepaalde dat de verschillende linies bij uitsterven van een ervan elkaars ambten zouden erven (zoals na de dood van koning Willem III in Luxemburg zou gebeuren).

In het jaar van zijn dood sloot hij een morganatisch huwelijk met Barbara Giessen von Kirchheim. Hij stierf in 1788 en werd opgevolgd door zijn oudste nog levende zoon Frederik Willem.
