Hij werd op 15 jarige leeftijd in 1815 inschreven aan de Universiteit van Utrecht. Na zijn studie werd hij Predikant te NEERLANGBROEK 1823-1826; te SCHIEDAM 1826-1830; te ROTTERDAM 1830 - 1865. Emiraat 1865. Hij vervulde bestuursfunties bij het Nederlandsche Zendeling Genootschap en bij het Nederlandse Bijbelgenoorschap. Hij was Ridder in de Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw.

Begraven op de Algemene Begraafplaats Crooswijk.
