Aiko was reeds voor zijn huwelijk eigenaar van het pand Schoolstraat 41 te Vlagtwedde. Omdat het pand verhuurd was, woonde hij na zijn huwelijk eerst korte tijd in Winschoten. Vervolgens keerde hij terug naar Vlagtwedde, alwaar hij korte tijdaan de Schoolstraat 41 een winkel had. Vervolgens vestigde hij zich als winkelier in Hoogkerk en later aan de Turfsingel (hoek Bloemstraat) te Groningen. Het pand Schoolstraat 41 te Vlagtwedde is later afgebrand.
