Elisabeth Maria werd mono-typiste bij een drukkerij en uitgeverij.
Zij bleef ongehuwd en kinderloos. Zij overleed op 4 februari 1975 te Velsen (Driehuis) en op 11 februari werd zij begraven op de RK-bergraafplaats van de Engelmunduskerk in Driehuis.
In de periode 1925-1926 woonde Bets Mentink bij haar broer Niek op de Driehuizerkerkweg.
Vermoedelijk was het een periode waarin Bets het minder goed kon vinden met haar moeder. Begin 1927 heeft vermoedelijk een verzoening plaatsgevonden, want sinds dat jaar woonde zij weer bij haar moeder op de Noorderdorpstraat in Oud-Velsen.
Dochter Bets kocht in 1935 een perceel grond aan de Da Costalaan te Driehuis, waarop door aannemer Willem van Heijst een huis werd gesticht conform bestek (kosten grond ƒ1.000,- en stichtingskosten van de woning ƒ 3.800,-). In 1937 werd de woning opgeleverd en kon Bets haar nieuwe woning betrekken. Een jaar later (1938) kwam moeder bij haar inwonen, omdat het huis aan de Noorderdorpstraat in Oud-Velsen bij openbare veiling werd verkocht.
In de tweede helft van 1942 moest Bets haar huis aan de Da Costalaan verlaten vanwege de verplichte evacuatie. In het huis werd toegewezen aan de familie J. Bart uit Beverwijk. Bets en haar moeder vertrokken naar het adres Holendrechtstraat 12huis te Amsterdam. Op 10 december 1945 ontving zij een bericht van het Prijzenbureau voor Onroerende Zaken in het Ambtsgebied te Haarlem, dat de huur voor de woning te Driehuis niet hoger mocht zijn dan ƒ 32,50 per maand. In april 1946 schreef Bets vanuit Amsterdam een brief aan de Koningin om weer in het bezit te worden gesteld van haar eigendom in Driehuis. Op 5 juli ontving zij het bericht dat het verzoek was afgewezen. Kort daarna verhuisde zij met moeder naar de woning aan de Hoofdstraat 54 te Santpoort-Noord. Op dat adres overleed moeder Elisabeth Maria in 1947. Op 27 juli 1948 stelde Bets opnieuw een poging in het werk om weer in het bezit te komen van haar woning in Driehuis. Zij kon 1949 re-evacueren en terugkeren naar haar woning in de Da Costalaan 23 te Driehuis.
