      Wilhelm groeit met zijn broers en zussen op in de ouderlijke boerderij in Mechelen , die gesitueerd is pal aan de grens Nederland / Duitsland. Wilhelm is geboren in Mechelen, maar vanwege zijn Duitse ouders heeft ook hij een Duitse nationaliteit. Omstreeks 1936/1937 staat er in een advertentie van een plaatselijk makelaarskrant in de Achterhoek te lezen, dat er een boerderijtje te koop staat aan de Vellertweg 38 in de Beemte nabij Apeldoorn. Dit trok de belangstelling van Hendrik Lohschelder, die daarop samen met zijn broer Wilhelm per fiets de reis vanuit Mechelen naar de Beemte ging maken, om die boerderij te bezichtigen. Hendrik ziet er van af, maar Wilhelm is er wel in geïnteresseerd en koopt later de boerderij. Hij trouwt met Maria van Aaken en samen stichtten zij hier hun gezin. Met het uitbreken van de tweede wereldoorlog moet Wilhelm als Duits onderdaan, in dienst bij de Wehrmacht. Hij wordt uitgezonden naar Italië. Keert met verlof terug omstreeks het overlijden van zijn vader in 1942, besluit niet terug te keren en onder te duiken bij zijn schoonfamilie tot het einde van de tweede wereld oorlog. Omstreeks 1953 gaat het gezin, inmiddels met 7 kinderen verhuizen naar de Zutphensestraat in Apeldoorn en daarna omstreeks 1959 / 1960 naar de Deventerstraat 396 in Apeldoorn. Het arbeidzame leven van Wilhelm is divers, maar het grootste deel ervan is hij werkzaam in de bouwwereld. In zijn woning aan de Deventerstraat overlijdt op 78 jarige leeftijd.
