Hield van auto's, harde muziek, dieren en van het leven. Door een buikgriep begin 2007 zijn zijn bloedglucosewaarden zo extreem omhoog geschoten dat hij met spoed moest worden opgenomen in het UMCG waar hij ruim 8 maanden o.a. op het IC moest blijven. Tegen alle verwachtingen in heeft hij het ziekenhuis kunnen verlaten.

Ondanks de beperkingen die zijn ziekte met zich mee hebben gebracht heeft hij altijd geprobeerd alles uit het leven te halen. Hij was loyaal en royaal tegenover iedereen waarvan hij hield.
