Daarnaast dient het gedenkteken als waarschuwing tegen hedendaagse vormen van discriminatie.

Rosette (Rozet) van Spiegel werkte in 1940 en 1941 als secretaresse voor het armbestuur van de Joodse Gemeente in Deventer. Zij staat in jm.nl aangeduid als 'correspondente'. Zij woonde in 1942 nog bij haar vader.
Rosette was kantoorbediende maar verzorgde haar eigen typ- en kopieerinrichting voor anderen. Ze werkte in 1940 en 1941 als secretaresse voor het armbestuur van de Joodse Gemeente. Ze is bij haar ouders blijven wonen.
