Reynier en Johanna woonden eerst in Nijmegen, waar Reynier koopman was.
Reynier werd aangetast door de pest en ze konden pas na zijn herstel trouwen.
Op 10-04-1638 vertrokken Reynier en Johanna naar Leiden.
In 1644 verhuisden ze naar Wijk bij Duurstede waar Johanna haar ouders woonden. Hier kwam Reynier in een voor hem onvoordelige rechtzaak met het stadsbestuur terecht over de bouw van een volmolen. Johanna belandde in het gevang vanwege beledigende woorden naar het gerecht. Door tussenkomst van haar familie kreeg ze vergiffenis.
In 1664 woonden ze weer in Leiden.
