Martin is de laatste 2 jaar van zijn leven verzorgd door zin oudste dochter Ellen in Rijen. Ze waren bezig met de verbouwing van hun huis in rijen, met o.a. een extra kamer voor Martin. In die tussentijd woonden ze tijdelijk in een huis van een kennis in Dongen. Daar is Martin op 31 mrt 2022 overleden.
