Vroeger heeft een ambtenaar bij de gemeente in Helmond achternamen “veranderd” door van ij een y te maken en van kleine letter hoofdletters. Daarom staat er in mijn paspoort de naam:De Theye en bij anderen :de Theije.
Een vreemde zaak die je wellicht zal opvallen.

Pa was in 1959 als conrector verbonden met het Carolus, docent Frans vanaf 1947. Hij kreeg als opdracht een school in het arbeidersgebied in Noord te vestigen als dependance van Carolus. Die school groeide met gemiddeld 5 klassen per jaar en pa zat in het eerste examenjaar in1965. Was een duidelijke en menselijke directeur. Altijd bezig met school en bijbanen en met zijn gezin. Carolus en de dependance waren 2 verschillende werelden. Een gevestigd, oud en standing. De ander jong , in opbouw en op zoek naar eigenwaarde. De door van mijn vader zette alles op zijn kop. Al meerdere jaren wilde pa een zelfstandige schhol maar er was veel tegenwerking vanuit Carolus. Salant detail in mijn bezit ; de toezegging van het omobestuur dat hij de eerste rector zou worden van de zelfstandige school. Na zijn dood kwam de actie op gang om de school naar hem te noemen maar vanuit omo werd gekozen voor een andere schoolcoryfee dr. Knippenberg met de actie en krantenartikelen en een demonstratie.
