Death:Possible heart failure. Family returned from visiting relatives to find him dead at home.
Immigration: Gerrit Jan's grandson Manus married Maria Johanna Vrijmoet, and his granddaughter Jantze married Johannis Vrijmoet, Maria's brother. Johannis emigrated to the US with Jantze and her family, but the two did not marry until a few years later.

Johannis's Uncle Johannis aslo immigrated to Iowa and lived in the same community.
