Marinus was the grandson of Manus Scholten, the eldest brother of Willem Karel. The many of the children's children went from Chicago and settled in Pipestone or Valley Springs, MN and Sioux Falls, SD.
William was a roomer at at age 34 and worked as a farmer. Twenty years later, he was living with his brother Marinus and their family.
