Mr. John Scholten, age 86, of Alton passed away Thursday, January 23, l997 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. John Dick was born August 21, 1910 at Alton, IA the son of Herman and Nellie (Den Hartog) Scholten. He was a farmer, who lived his entire life on the Scholten family farm near Alton. During World War II he worked in a munitions factory at Hastings, Nebraska. He was a lifetime member of the Alton Reformed Church. Survivors include two sisters, Jeanette Riedeman and Nelvina Scholten, both of Orange City and nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by a brother, Gerald Scholten; three sisters, Margaret and Minnie Scholten, and Bernice Jasper; a half brother, Simon Scholten; and three half-sisters, Anna Langstraat, Abby Geurink, and Grace De Boer.
