Notes about Willem SCHOLTEN

Will Scholten (William, Willem), son of Garrit Jan and Carolina Knopers: He is a first cousin to John (Jan) Scholten. Will's father, Gerrit Jan Scholten, was a brother to Jenneken Scholten, John (Jan) Scholten's mother. In an old family photograph taken in the Netherlands (Zutphen), the family is shown with fabric draped over the grass near the bleachery. They were bleachers by trade. Cloth would be stretched out in the sun to bleach white. Will Scholten is the baby shown in this particular photograph. Hattie Scholten created a painting of this photograph later in life.

Confirmation: Henny to me
You asked about the baby in De Bleek photo. It is William (03-08-1884), son of Gerrit Jan Scholten (01-10-1855--24-01-1943) and Carolina Knoopers (23-06-1856--19-11-1941). How nice it is to have photos from the 1800s!

Also lived in Hull IA, 1940
