vertrekken zij van de Van Boetselaerstraat 42 naar de Marnixstraat 60. Na 1950 en vóór 1955 emigreerde het echtpaar met dochter Roeska naar Canada, waarheen de rest van het gezin al eerder 'in delen' was afgereisd. Jan de Vries vertrekt naar Canada samen met zijn vrouw Rina en dochter. Jan gaat als "journeyman stairmaker" bij Halifax Shipyards werken. Verder bouwt hij voor familie eb vrienden huizen, en stelt hij zijn vanmanschap beschikbaar voor allerlei projecten.
