In nr 66 woonde vanaf 1937 toen het gebouwd is , Cor de Ruiter met Jacoba Koster en toen nog maar een dochtertje.
De Ruiter was groenteboer en had zijn klantenkring op Tuindorp Heijplaat .
Thuis had hij alleen een schuur voor stalling van paard en wagen en opslag voor zijn waren .
Onder het huis was een grote kelder van 8 x 6 mtr , waarschijnlijk opslag voor aardappelen, etc.
Op 10 mei 1940 en de eerste oorlogsdagen kwamen mensen uit de omgeving s'nachts in deze kelder slapen om beschut te zijn tegen het oorlogs geweld , wel ca 40 personen .
per persoon hadden die dan 1,2 mtr ligplaats . Er waren natuurlijk ook kinderen bij, de kleintjes sliepen in Veilingkisten n.
Wij Nederlanders wisten niet wat oorlog was .
125 jaar lang hadden wij geen oorlog binnen onze grenzen .
De mensen kropen allemaal in de kelders of maakten schuilkelders in de tuin in de grond .
