Notes about Emilia Maria Hubertina "Emilia" Wettelings

Emilia Wettelings (of Wittelings) groeide op in Venlo samen met drie broers en twee zusters. Na haar huwelijk in 1897 met Henri den Nieuwenboer (1862-1916) verhuisde ze naar Nijmegen. Aldaar werden haar twee kinderen Theo (1898-1944) en Mil (1902-1996) geboren. In 1920 trouwde haar dochter Mil. Zij vertrok naar Nederlands-Indië met haar echtgenoot Wim Eussen (1894-1979). Wanneer haar zoon een half jaar later ook naar Indië vertrekt gaat zij met hem mee. Tussen 1920 en 1930 of 1933 woonde zij afwisselend op Sumatra bij haar kinderen, in Venlo en in Nijmegen. Zeker is dat zij vanaf 1933 permanent in Nijmegen woonde. Aldaar maakt zij de Duitse bezetting en het bombardement van 22 februari 1944 mee. Ze overleefde haar echtgenoot Henri, zoon Theo en haar kleinzoon Wim Eussen (1925-1960). In 1961 verhuisde zij terug naar haar geboortestad Venlo alwaar zij op zevenennegentigjarige leeftijd overleed, overgrootmoeder van tien achterkleinkinderen.
