JAN en WILLEMINA hebben op 14 maart 1921 belijdenis van hun geloof afgelegd.


In 1923 verhuisd van Odoorn naar Roswinkelerveen, vervolgens naar Nw.Weerdinge Siepelveen en vandaar op 4 mei 1940 naar Enschede.


Ook heeft JAN in het veen gewerkt. Op veengrond die gehuurd werd door MARTEN DOL.


In het voorjaar van 1926 vertrok HARM met zijn gezin naar Enschede en JAN met zijn kinderen naar het dorp Drutte, waar ze ongeveer 2 jaar gewoont hebben (1926-1928).Jan heeft 15 jaren voor veenboeren gewerkt, het waren ZWEERS, PIETERS en MEIJER.


Omstreeks 1939 moest JAN door werkloos te zijn 3 kinderen, NIESJE, BONDINA en EGBERT naar Enschede brengen. NIESJE en EGBERT waren bij ROELF MEEMS in de kost. BONDINA bij tante LUTJE. JAN en WILLEMINA volgenden korte tijd later.


Zijn nieuwe werkgever in Enschede vroeg hem naar zijn getuigschrift. Als eigen baasje had hij geen getuigschrift. Daarom werd het politiebureau in Emmen gebeld om te vragen naar zijn "goed gedrag". JAN is woonruimte aangeboden door de directeur van het Rigtersbleek die op het Strooit woonde. Deze woonruimte was een boerderij gelegen aan de Rigtersweg 73.


JAN en zoon EGBERT zijn in 1943 opgepakt en op transport gezet naar Duitsland. Ze zijn gevlucht naar Nederland via Kleef. In Nederland zijn ze toen ondergedoken geweest.
