De scheiding wordt pas uitgesproken in 1832 op grond van "overspel" van Christina, bewezen door de geboorte van twee kinderen - Op het moment van haar echtscheiding woonde Christina in Middelburg K335 naast haar moeder op K336, hetgeen doet vermoeden dat haar moeder op haar kinderen paste zodat zij kon gaan werken (Der Vaderen Vader: pag. 157).
