In doopboek vermeld als Willem Willemsz, waarbij Willemsz de vadersnaam van zijn vader is.
Hij woonde en boerde op een boerderij aan de Steursweg in Haamstede. Omstreeks 1725 was het bedrijf in handen van Willem Cornelisse van Westen; deze was in 1753 nog eigenaar van de hofstede die toen reeds door zijn zoon Cornelis Willemse van Westen bewoond werd. Van 1776 tot 1801 woonde hier Willem Beije (zoon van de tweede echtgenoot van Cornelis Willemse van Westen: Marinus Willemse Beije), vandaar dat deze weg tot de ruilverkaveling Willem Beije's weg heette.
