Noot: Na 7 jaar in Leeuwarden bij reisbureau Lissone Lindeman te hebben gewerkt, wilde "Tinus" iets anders voor zich zelf beginnen. De kans daartoe zag hij niet hier maar in Amerika, zodat hij mei 1952 met "Baukje" de reis ondernam: per boot naar New York en vandaar met de bus (Grey-Hound) dwars door de Ver. Staten naar Californië, onderweg zich oriënterend omtrent het land en de mogelijkheden. Na enige pogingen in de handel, bleek de wenselijkheid zich toch weer in het reiswezen te begeven om na enige jaren daarin zelfstandig ondernemer te worden. Beide waren zij daarin met succes werkzaam en het doel was volledig bereikt, toen in 1970 een eigen kantoor gereed kwam en in gebruik genomen in Bellflower, gelegen ten zuiden van Los Angeles, tussen deze stad en het zuidelijker gelegen Long Beach; afstand tot elk van deze steden ongeveer 10 a 15 km.
Door het overlijden van "Tinus" kwam hieraan een abrupt einde en zijn vrouw oordeelde het na verloop van enige tijd beter, de zaak met een vrij groot aantal personeelsleden volledig af te stoten en zelf weer naar Nederland terug te keren, na 25 jaar in Californië gewoond en gewerkt te hebben.
