Cees en Anna woonden na hun trouwen, in Lambertschaag. Hun eerste kind(Nicolaas Herman) is daar geboren op 21 november 1928, toen, volgens de overlevering er een NWerstorm woedde. Het water van de Zuiderzee sloeg over de dijk in Lambertschaag en er was dijkbewaking. Hun huisje stond op een afstand van ca 150 m. vanaf de dijk, in de Dorpsstraat.
Op 1 mei 1930, is Cees gaan werken bij Aurora In Opmeer en verhuisd naar Opmeer. Zij kregen een huis aan de latere Lindengracht. Dit was een werkmans huisje van Klaas Bos, de voorzitter van de Coop. Zuivelfabriek Aurora.
In 1931 heeft hij een eigen huis laten bouwen door de dorpstimmerman Jaap Ursem, iets buiten de bebouwde kom van Opmeer, toendertijd genummers als; B 11 (Ad Deum).
