Josephus Hendrikus (Jos) de KANTER (Tilburg 1815-1916), boekhandelaar en sinds 1838 koster vann parochie St. Dionysius, 't Goirke. De "Boekhandel Gebroeders De Kanter" dreef hij samen met zijn broer Norbertus Nicolaas, die ook nog een wolfabriek had in de Goirkestraat. De Tilburgse Courant meldde op 20-2-1915: "Vandaag viert de heer Jos. de Kanter zijn 100e verjaardag. Hij is geboren 19-2-1815 te Tilburg in de Veldhovense Hoek. Hij was 75 jaar koster op 't Goirke. Hij kreeg de onderscheidingen: Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice en de zilveren medaille in de orde van Oranje Nassau.?Hij was getuige in het zaligmakings-proces van Peerke Donders, die hij goed gekend heeft, en voor wie hij elke morgen de kerkdeur openmaakte. Hij is de zoon van Joh. de Kanter, fabrikant, en Cornelia Dekkers en werd geboren in het huis aan de Veldhoven waar nu aannemer Schoonis woont."?
