Beknopte inleiding bij de fragmentgenealogie van de familie: Schrier. Defamilienaam Schrier is afkomstig van Noord Beveland. De oudste vermeldingen van de naam vinden we in de doop-boeken en lidmatenregisters van Colijnsplaat, vanaf 1650. De stamvader van de familie, Christiaan Schreijer,is afkomstig van het Hertogdom Gulik, vermoedelijk als geboorteplaats: Seberhofen(?). Als soldaat in het leger van de Prins van Oranje huwde hijin Axel met Berendina Jans de Roo uit Ledegem in Vlaanderen. Christiaan Schreijer ging na beeindiging van de 80-jarige oorlog naar Sittard, toen nog Duits gebied. In 1650 ging hij het "nieuwe land" Noord Beveland verkennen; in 1651 vestigde het gezin -inmiddels met twee kinderen- zich in Colijnsplaat.
