Notes about Pieter Evertse

Hij was eigenaar van de herberg "DE DRIESPRONG" te Kerkwerve. De schoolkinderen aten daar om 12.00 uur hun brood op en 's winters wanneer de Verseputseweg gedeeltelijk onder water stond (tot ongeveer 1885), verkleedden de van de richting Prommelsluis, door de slik en slobber, komende kerkgangers zich in het cafe, waar ook de kerkboeken en stoven waren. Na de kerkdienst stond koffie klaar in de gelagkamer. Het zelfgebottelde bier en het speciaal gemaakte citroentje met suiker genoten vermaardheid. Ook als rustpunt tijdens de schaatstochten over de vaarten vanuit Schouwen naar Zierikzee was de herberg bekend.
