Notes about Pieter Evertse

Hij was eigenaar van Cafe "De Driesprong" te Kerkwerve. De schoolkinderen aten daar om 12.00 uur hun brood op en 's winters wanneer de verseputssstraat gedeeltelijk onder water stond (tot ongeveer 1885). Verkleedden de van de ringting Prommelsluis, door slik en slobber, komende kergangers zich in het Cafe, waar ook de kerkboeken en stoven waren. Na de kerkdienst stond koffie klaar in de gelagkamer. Het zelfgebottelde bier en het speciaal gemaakte citroentje met suiker genoten vermaardheid en ook als rustpunt tijdens de schaatstochten over de vaarten vanuit Schouwen naar Zierikzee was de herberg bekend
