    3. Born in 1537 in the city of Groningen as one of three sons of Jacob Canter, burgemeester of the town of Leeuwarden, and Anna Claes Tymansdr.. (this must be wrong)
    4. After his studies he returned to the Netherlands where he was gildrechtsheer several times between 1578 and 1591. From 1579 until 1587 he also acted as gezworene for several times. In the years 1588 and 1590 he was guardian of the A-Church in Groningen.
    6. He was probably married and had a son, born around 1577. He died 7-12-1591.3

    Joachimus Canter Frisius. 1560. Procurator 1561. imm. Bazel 1558/9. Deze Groninger is één der laatsten uit deze provincie, die zich Frisius tout court noemt. Geboren 1537, werd gilderechtsheer (meermalen 1578-1591) en gezworene (1580-1591).

    Zaterdag 7 december 1591 Joachim Canter heeft op 7 december rond drie uur in de ochtend het leven met de dood gewisseld.

Hij was een ‘rijk jonge man’, midden 16e eeuw te Leuven bevriend met Suffridus Petrus. Juni 1557: stud. Leuven, 1559 te Bazel, 1560 rechten te Padua, 1578 …1589 gildrechtheer, 1579…1589 gezworene.
