(begiftigd met her erekruis Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice)

Piet Althof werkte bij Lampe in de St. Jacobsstraat (tante Mien ook).

Hij kreeg daar een hongerloontje, werd zijn levenlang uitgebuit, geen pensioen (gelukkig kwam de AOW).

Zij huurden aanvankelijk een huis Mesdagstraat 5 Huizum, van de kerk. Plotseling werd hun de huur opgezegd. De kerk had geld nodig en wilde het huis verkopen. De familie werd bijna op straat gezet. Met steun van opa Yntema hebben ze toen het huis Cronjéstraat 27 kunnen kopen.
