From the Mac Gillavry History 'Van Dunmaglass to Djati Roenggo': ANNA THEODORA Mac Gillavry-Maurisse to her second son HENRI PIERRE THEODORE ELISE, our ancestor (letter written in June of 1849): "Laat Louise toch niet zoo gek zijn om haar kind aan een min te geven. Zij is jong genoeg om het zuigen uit te houden. Als Gij mij in het laatst van het jaar een bezoek kunt komen geven, dan zal zulks mij zeer aangenaam wezen. Welligt dat ik dan met U mee ga, maar om alleen de reis te doen, hier ben ik gandsch onbekwaam voor en reken hier dus nimmer op. Adieu, Uw Moeder,"

TRANSLATION: "Don't allow Louise to be so foolish as to give the child ( their first-born Henry Donald) to a wet- nurse. She is young enough to tolerate giving suck herself. If you are able to visit me in the last part of this year, it would please me very much, and perhaps I'll go back with you, but to make the journey by myself, that I could not handle at all, so don't count on it. Goodbye. Your Mother."

She died two months after writing this letter.
