Het echtpaar testeert te Melissant op 15 december 1717 en hij aldaar op 11 juli 1726.


Samen met zijn zoon Cornelis boert hij goed waardoor in de polder van Dirksland grond wordt aangekocht in Deurlo, het Gasthuisblok en de Honingeter.


Enkele opmerkelijke aktes van hem zijn bewaard gebleven. Zo liet hij onder andere een lijkschouwing verrichtten op het lichaam van zijn 20-jarige zoon Hendrik door een medich doctor, een chirurgijn en enkele notabelen van het dorp omdat hij twijfelde aan de doodsoorzaak.


Op latere leeftijd verhuurt hij zijn huis aan zijn zoon Cornelis, waarbij hij bepaalt dat hij in de voorkamer blijft wonen, dat zijn zoon die kamer moet onderhouden, hem moet bewassen, zowel van "linne als van woll", hem van huur moet voorzien en dat de vruchten van de pereboom achter het huis ook voor hem zijn. (Over die peren is kennelijk een ruzie ontstaan, want nog diezelfde dag werd een bijna identieke 2e akte opgetekend, waarbij het vruchtgebruik van de pereboom nader werd bepaald).


Hij werd enkele malen uitgesloten van het Heilige Avondmaal "om dronck" en wegens bitterheid jegens de kerkeraad.
