Maurits van Es zou ook de zoon van Jan van Es (opa) kunnen zijn, en dus een broer van de hier aangegeven vader Ruth.

Gezien zijn vermoedelijke leeftijd (in 1769 getrouwd, dus wsl voor 1750 geboren), het feit dat zijn ouders pas in 1759 zijn getrouwd, en het feit dat Maurits in de Gele klappers niet wordt genoemd als zoon van Ruth en Adriaantje, maakt dit zeer waarschijnlijk.

Het enige wat hier tegenover staat, is dat bij het trouwen van Maurits zoon Pieter in Genlias de grootouders van Pieter genoemd worden: Ruth en Adriaantje Kamhout.
