Taeke Binnert HAITES spent several nights watching over Sipke when Sipke was sick and dying. Sipke's wife and widow, Antje-moei gave Taeke a silver spoon in gratitude for these services. This spoon was then given to Eesge HAITES.
?The death of Sipke-om happened when I was in my college years. I remember the arrival of the death notice. I was in bed with shingles. Mrs. Toxopeus, my landlady, was very sensitive in passing me the message. She asked me if my Grandfather was still alive. I responded that my father's father had passed away. That's when she handed me the death notice.? (Source: Eesge HAITES).
