Het onderstaande is opgetekend uit het Zuid Afrikaanse 'Stamouwers' project (www.stamouwers.com):
"Dirk Louw word beskou as die tweede stamvader van die Louw’s in Suid Afrika en het ongeveer 300–500 Louw afstammelinge.
Dirk en Catharina is beide te Venhuizen, Nederland gebore, so ook hul oudste twee kinders. Op 2.8.1850 verhuis die gesin na Den Helder waar drie verdere kinders gebore is. Gedurende 1860 vertrek die gesin met die boot Willem Frederik na Kaap de Goede Hoop. Hulle kom op 23.11.1860 in Durban aan. Dirk het hom in die huidige Natal (KwaZulu Natal) gevestig. Aan die begin van Jun 1888 is hy en sy oudste seun, Klaas albei vermoor. Hierdie en ander moorde in Natal het natuurlik ‘n groot invloed op Dirk se nageslag. Dirk se kleindogter is met die bekende C.R. (Charlie) LOUW getroud en so word die twee Louw stamvaders aan mekaar verbind."
