Op 12-11-1883 verhuist hij met zijn gezin naar Beverwijk. Daar gaat hij eerst als timmerman werken. Later wordt hij slager, net als zijn vader was.

Nadat zijn vrouw Guurtje Dekker is overleden, besluit Ide Appel om een toeziend voogd te laten benoemen over zijn 5 minderjarige kinderen. Op 29 mei 1895 wordt Jac

ob Schilder, beur

tschipper uit ’t Zand (gemeente Zijpe) en gehuwd oom van de kinderen tot toeziend voogd gekozen, zonder dat hij aanwezig is. Op 7 juni 1895 komt hij zelf de volmacht tekenen

in Haarlem.

Omdat

Guurtje Dekker is komen te overlijden wordt op 1 november 1895 een boedel scheiding opgemaakt. Hieruit blijkt dat ze een gezamenlijk vermogen hadden van fl. 2.555,30 en

een schuld van fl. 2.015,30. Wa

t uit kwam op een nalatenschap van fl. 540,00 – fl. 35,00 is fl. 505,00 te verdelen onder de 5 kinderen. De boedel bestond onder andere ui een woon- winkelhuis

met schuur en erve staande en gelegen

te Beverwijk aan de Hoflader of Kerkweg, kadastraal bekend in sectie A, nummer 2278 ter grootte van 3 A. 32cA. ter waarde van fl. 1.150,00. Gekocht op een

veiling op 16 oktober 1883. Verder ui meubele

n, huisraad, kleederen, levende have zoals 3 koeien samen fl. 450,00, 1 paard fl. 100,00, 8 biggen fl. 32,00 en ook o.a. slagersgereedschappen fl. 2

0,00, rijtuig en kar fl. 60,00, diverse vleeswaren f

l. 25,00 en diverse houtwaren op het erf fl. 400,00!!! (Dus het moet daar goed vol hebben gestaan). Hij had ook nog vorderingen openstaan i.v.m

. geleverde houtwaren.
