Ingeschreven als student in de rechten te Franeker 1 sept. 1769; jur. cand. ald. 6 jan. 1775; prom. ald. in de rechten 1 dec. 1775; promotor: Wigeri, titel proefschrift: `De fictionibus in jure'. Geïmmatr. als advocaat 12 dec. 1775. Benoemd door Zevenwouden tot raadsheer in het Hof 30 juni 1783 loco Simon Binckes, na keuze door de stadhouder 11 dito; comm. en beëdiging 10 juli 1783. Blijft aan na de omwenteling van februari 1795 en overleeft ook de zuivering van 10 juli 1795. Met nog drie andere overgebleven raadsheren ontslagen door de Representanten 11 april 1796. Lid van het Vertegenwoordigend Lichaam 1798, van de Tweede Kamer van id. 1798-1799, van de Eerste Kamer 1800-1801, raadsheer in het Nationaal Gerechtshof 1802-1804 (overl. 23 maart).
