1 NAME Dom Paul

Il fit ses études à l'université de Trèves, où il fut proclamé bachelier en 1717, magister en 1718 et conquit le grade de docteur en droit canon et civil. Entré à l'abbaye bénédictine de Saint-Martin à Trêves , il y prononca ses voeux en 1720 et fut ordonné en 1722. Il devint supérieur du monastère, comme abbé mitré, le 30 janvier 1747. En raison de son âge avancé, il reçut en 1776 un coadjuteur et il décéda le 2 février 1778. Voici la traduction de l'épitaphe latine gravée sur sa dalle funéraire: " Révérendissime et très illustre Maître Dom Paul Lejeune docteur en droit canon et civil jubilaire de profession religieuse et de sacerdoce très digne abbé de ce lieu qui, le 2 février 1778, dans sa 80eme année de son âge, la 58 eme de profession religieuse, la 56eme de sacerdoce, la 32eme de dignité abbatiale quittant les mortels pour passer à l'immortalite, gît dans le repos de la mort entre ces autels qu'il construisit de son vivant en l'honneur de la croix. Priez pour qu'il repose désormais dans la paix éternelle.
