1 NAME DOM HENRI

Religieux bénédictin de Mettlach (Sarre), ordonné prêtre le 21 septembre 1726, élu abbé de l'ordre le 15 février 1735. Son sacre, en qualité de prélat mitré, eut lieu le 6 mars suivant. Il exerça durant seize ans avec un grand zèle le gouvernement du monastère, et fit rebâtir une importante partie du monastère construit vers 700 par Saint Ludvin l'aile gauche du bâtiment porte le millésime 1737. Il se distingua aussi dans la gestion des biens de l'abbaye, en lui faisant restituer des avantages financiers dont elle était dépossedée depuis plusieurs siècles. Dom Henri était le 73eme abbé de Mettlach. Il fut en relations suivies avec Jean Nicolas de Hontheim, suffragant de Trèves, connu plus tard dans l'histoire de nos provinces sous le nom de Febronius, comme défenseur du joséphisme, système imaginé par Joseph II pour subordonner l'Eglise à l'Etat. L'éminent prélat clermontois décéda le 9 avril 1751. L'église de Thimister possède de lui un calice en vermeil, portant gravées sur le pied ses armoiries ( d'argent, à la rose de gueules, boutonnée de sinople) et l'inscription: Rndus Dnus Henrucus Le Jeune, abbas mediolacensis, dono dedit 1738.
