Notes about Cedric Everett Trevor Getkate

Cedric and Alie met in April 1973 on a blind date organised by Alie's friend Rita Kalter, who was in a relationship with Cedric's brother Fulton. They got engaged on 10 Oct 1973, but due to the fact that Alie was studying for her BA degree at the University of the Orange Free State in Bloemfontein, they were only married in Jan 1975. After their marriage they lived in Durban where Cedric, who was a professional soldier, was stationed at Natal Command Maintenance Unit. In April 1980 they moved to Jozini in Northern Natal when Cedric was tranfered to Jozini Military Base. Here they lived for 7 years and moved back to Durban in Dec 1986.
From then until Cedric's retirement in April 1993, they lived at 25 Jim Fouché Drive in Durban North. In 1993 they bought their own house at 20 Hopkins Road, Bluff.
After retiring from the Defence Force Cedric started a second career with Lasher Tools. He worked for them until he finally retired in November 2012.
