Oost Haverkamp * 24-01-1903 Havelte, + 10-08-1962 Krommenie, was vernoemd naar zijn opa van moederskant, Oost Jonker. Zelf wilde hij nooit vernoemd worden, omdat hijzelf in zijn leven steeds geplaagd werd met zijn voornaam. Zoals gezegd was Oost op zijn 12e weeskind, maar te oud om naar een weeshuis te gaan. Hij heeft zijn verdere jeugd gewerkt op een aantal boerderijen, eerst in Drenthe, maar later ook in Limburg, en de Beemster. In Drenthe verdiende daar naast kost en inwoning f. 52,- per jaar, een schijntje, en moest daarvan f. 17,- per jaar sparen.

Tot 22-5-1916 woonde hij samen met zijn zus Geesje bij Jan van de Zweerde en Rensje Jonker. Daarna vertrok zij naar De Wijk, en hij naar Ruinerwold.
22-5-1916 – 8-5-1920 als boerenknecht op Ruinerwold C.402, komende van Havelte en vertrokken naar Meppel (dienstbodenregister).
8-5-1920 – 30-4-1921 als boerenknecht in Meppel, bij J. Nooi, Oosterbolt [43] 88, komende van Ruinerwold en vertrokken naar Werkendam (dienstbodenregister).
4-1-1921 – 28-11-1921 als boerenknecht ingeschreven in Werkendam, De Zalm 711 ten huize van Jacob Leendert Kodde – hetzelfde adres als zijn zus Geesje, komende van Meppel en vertrokken naar Ruinerwold.

3-11-1923 – 17-4-1924 heeft hij in De Wijk bij Klaas Veld en Aaltje Wimmenhove gewoond (Oost is diens “neef”, Klaas Veld is een broer van Geesje Veld, moeder van zijn moeder Rensje Jonker), als boerenknecht, en is daarna naar Noordeloos (Z.H.) vertrokken.

4-5-1925 – 8-10-1926 opnieuw in De Wijk bij Klaas Veld, gekomen van Ruinerwold, en vertrokken naar Alphen aan de Rijn.

Hij kwam rond 1930 in Nijmegen (onbekend is waarom), en daar heeft hij zijn vrouw leren kennen, op een “dolle dinsdag” (waarschijnlijk de dinsdag van Carnaval).

Na ongeveer een jaar verkering, trouwden Oost Haverkamp en Jo Wissink. x ~15-09-1931 Nijmegen?

Ze verhuisden naar Krommenie, en Oost Haverkamp ging werken bij meelfabriek de Vlijt in Wormerveer. Dat werd later onderdeel van Wessanen. Ze kregen drie kinderen.
