nergens bespeuren. De straat kruist de reeds genoemde Stekense (Hulsterse, Gentse) Vaart. Langs hier geschiedde de bevoorrading bij het beleg van Antwerpen in 1585. Even over de vaart staat de oude afspanning ‘de Bijle' (tweede helft 18de eeuw). Het huis is beter bekend onder de naam ‘de Cramme'. De eigenaar is reeds jaren bezig aan de restauratie. Op de hoek van de Kiekenhaag en de Ketelaarsgrasstraat staat nu een moderne woning. Van 1634 tot 1637 woonde hier Jan van Steene, een mannelijke heks, die op de markt van Stekene werd verbrand in januari van het jaar 1637. Hij werd ervan beschuldigd mensen en vee te hebben betoverd. Een van zijn slachtoffers, Mathijs Borm, stierf na een kuur van Jan. Hij vierde sabbat met vooraanstaande Stekense vrouwen op Vierbergen in de Wildernis te Stekene. Voor al die misdaden werd hij te Rupelmonde veroordeeld en te Stekene geëxecuteerd. Zijn as werd uitgestrooid op het Galgenveld dat tot de eeuwwisseling nog Hansken van Steenekerkhof werd genoemd. In 1981 werd op de markt te Stekene een massaspel opgevoerd dat de geschiedenis van Jan van Steene uitbeeldde
