Joseph is in 1896 lid geworden van het zangkoor van de Boskant kerk die in de
2e wereldoorlog door brand is vernietigd, na een bombardement op het Bezuidenhout.
Door zijn fraaie stem gold hij als een van de beste zangers die ook buiten het kerkgebouw
grote bekendheid genoot.Bij zijn 50 jarig jubileum werd hij onderscheiden met de pauselijke
onderscheiding Pro Ecclesia.

Woonde o.a. in 1907 v.Goghstraat 41, 1930 Chasséstraat 2, 1936 Zuiderparklaan 257
1955 Maasstraat 1, alle te 's-Gravenhage.

Zijn grootte rozenkrans is in 2000 bij de 14 jarige kleinzoon van zijn kleindochter An,in Canada

Haar grootvader Carolus van der Meer (V/22), van moederszijde, was in 1869 slijter.
Wellicht is zij daar als 25 jarige, tapster geweest tot aan haar huwelijk.
Jos heeft haar wellicht in dit café ontmoet en is later een eigen slijtersbedrijf
in de Bankastraat begonnen.
Het familieverhaal vertelt, dat hij een goede klant van zijn eigen café was, is hij
daarom misschien in 1905 failliet gegaan?
