Petrus is als 18 jarige in 1792 in Hollandsche Dienst gegaan bij het regiment
ligte Dragonders van Schravenmoor.
In oktober 1809 overgegaan in fransche Dienst bij het 2e regiment huzaren.
In mei 1816 is hij als marechaussee te paard ingeschreven bij de compagnie in Limburg.

In het stamboek van deze compagnie staat zijn signalement:
lengte: 5 voet en 10 duim (1,75 m.)
aangezigt: ovaalvoorhoofd:hoog
oogen: bruinneus:lang
mond: middelmatigkin:rond
haar: bruinwenkbraauwen:bruin

Hij heeft deelgenomen (zonder kleerscheuren) aan veldslagen in:
1793 in frankrijk
1799 in noord-holland (castricum)
1806 in duitsland

In 1829 ontving hij een bronzen medaille voor trouwe dienst.

In 1830 met honorabel paspoort (pensioen) gegaan.

Opmerkelijk is dat de naam van zijn moeder en zijn eigen geboortedatum niet juist zijn opgegeven voor het stamboek.
