Hij was zeer rijk door inkomsten uit veenontginningen entolheffing aan de monding van de grote rivieren. Verving enige houten kerken door stenen kerken. Geh. met:

2122490065  Gertrud van Lotharingen, geb. 1078, ovl. 24-05-1144, begr. Rijnsburg, dr. v.d. hertog v. Opper-Lotharingen en halfzuster v.d. Duitse koning Lotharius van Supplingen. Veranderde haar naam om religieuze redenen in Petronilla en deed belangrijke schenkingen aan de abdij van Egmond.
